Today is the 66th anniversary of my grandparents wedding. On January 18, 1947 they married at the home of my Great Aunt Rachel (York) Elliot in Palestine Township, Bradley Co., Arkansas.
This is a shot of their 25th Anniversary party at their home in Detroit, Michigan. They were married 41 years and raised 8 children before Grandpa died in 1988.
Happy hunting,
Jessica

We’re almost related through the Hortons. My grandmother’s best friend’s mother’s maiden name was Horton. Her papers came to me with her Hortons back to 1600s in Long Island Sound. The census is confirming to 1850 then other stuff. I’ll bring it to Fort Wayne or mail it to you. If I try to send it to you as a GEDCOM, who knows? it might blow up. Nellie, that’s my grandma’s best friend, was Dean of Women at Olivet College. She taught art teachers how to teach art. I have letters between Grace, my grandma, and Nellie they wrote while Nellie was vacationing in Arkansas with her parents as a girl. Well they were in Maple Valley, Montcalm County, about 30 miles north of Grand Rapids.
Here’s how it goes. Minnie or Murial Horton was born in 1866 in Rathborn, New York. Isreal was born 1817 in Lansing, New York. Jason was born 1781 in Goshen, Orange County, New York. Isreal was born 1756 in Cutchogue, Suffolk, Lond Island, New York. Isreal was born 1728 in the same place. Jonathan was born 1794 same place. Jonathan 1668 same place. Caleb 1640 same place. Barnabas Horton 12 July 1600 Mowsley, Leicestershire, England. {This is where Nellie’s papers stop, and Rootweb, Genforum etc starts.} Joseph Horton about 1565 Mowsley, Leicestershire, England. William about 1543 Firthouse, Halifax. England. Barnabas 1524 Mousley. Richard de Horton 1500 place not given. Thomas de Horton 1480 Mowsely, Leicestershire. Richard de Horton 1450 same place. Richard de Horton 1410. William de Horton 1370 with a wife Joan Dutton 1381. William de Horton wife Agnes. John. Hugh. Henry de Horton 1240 in Horton, Northampton, England. I thought I could find a connection with a William Horton who is on the board of the little museum Susie and I are on. This is Oakfield Township up near Greenville. It seems like they should connect, but I think the closest common relative is Barnabas, born in 1600 in Mowsley, Leicestershire. All this stuff is on a 2007 DEL computer that doesn’t go on line any more because her owner is paranoid.
